Blue Horizon Charity Inc, along with Bilalul Habeshi entered an agreement with Babul Kheyer Charity Organization to implement the school feeding program in Abadir Schools (Winget and Atobis Tera) beginning Nov 1, 2024. The program will provide lunch for both schools five days a week, which includes injera with wot, rice, pasta, macaroni with vegetables or meat. All Government schools in Ethiopia provide meals for their students, however NO ISLAMIC EDUCATION is taught in their schools. With your ongoing support both Abadir Schools will not only retain students from poor families but most importantly will provide both ACADAMIC and ISLAMIC EDUCATION for the future of our children.

For over 60 years, Abadir Islamic Schools in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, (Abadir School and Abadir Institute), have been a place of hope and learning for children, especially those from low-income families. Founded in 1960s, the school was established with the objective of teaching ACADAMIC, in addition to ISLAMIC EDUCATION. Presently, the school is facing a very tough reality. Its students’ number has dropped to fewer than 400 – a heartbreaking decline from where the school used to be. Among other things, one of the main reasons for this is that families are struggling more than ever, due to growing socio-economic challenges, and NUMBER 1 CHALLENGE is providing meals (FOOD) for their families.

The Problem:

• Hunger in the Classroom: For many of the students, having an empty stomach is their daily reality, making it nearly impossible to focus, learn, or even stay awake during lessons.
• Falling Enrollment: As times get harder, families are forced to pull their kids out and send them to government schools simply because they offer free meals.

The solution – School Feeding Program:

To curb the above challenge, a school feeding program has been started this year. This program will provide nutritious meals to every student, ensuring that no child has to learn on an empty stomach.

This will not only mean kids are provided with a meal. It also means:

• Provide Learning: A full stomach means a focused mind. Kids will be able to concentrate, participate, and have a better chance in succeeding with their studies.
• Better Health: Nutritious meals will help children grow stronger and healthier, giving them the energy they need

Why This Matters:

Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, but hunger is a barrier that no child should have to face. By supporting our feeding program, you are not just providing meals –  you are giving children the tools they need to build a brighter future.
